So what exactly makes Ashley Feraude a 'man around town'? Well, it all started when he discovered house music somewhere around the year 2000, bought a pair of turntables and then Canberra clubs and lounges quickly discovered him. Almost overnight he became a lounge bar superstar and the following night, a top club performer. He now shares his passion for disco and soul through residencies and regular spots in pretty much every Canberra premier late night venue. His unique polite manner and penchant for pocket squares earned him the press title 'the gentleman of disco'. Classy huh?
His gift for building a set for any occasion and really connecting with the audience was spotted by major promoters too and he supported the likes of Sasha, Axwell, Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, Kaskade, LTJ Bukem, Cut Copy, Flume, PNAU and the Hed Kandi, One Love and Ministry of Sound tours. All this activity, plus his performances at the Foreshore, Warehouse and Summer Rhythm festivals landed Ashley the top 3rd ACT DJ in the InTheMix Top 50 polls. He even has a pointy glass thing to prove it.
In 2015, Ashley became the Music Director for Fashfest , Canberra's largest annual fashion show, and has delivered two major shows featuring a line-up of over 20 artists under his event vision. Yes, it was a lot of work but you should have seen the standing ovation at the finale.
Even though one of his favourite songs is 'Music is what makes the world go round' there are other passions that fill his days. Specifically, creating content that connects with people on a more personal level so he became the author of Home Stories. It's an interior design series for HerCanberra and candid look at the personalities of the nation's capital through their homes, It's read by over 80,000 people who either love his writing or are a bunch of voyeurs.
Despite his busy schedule the 'Gentleman of Disco' was more than happy to create this playlist for the 'Gentlemen of Canberra'. Enjoy the chilled vibes (yes, we made that genre up)
