Welcome back to our new series #WCW.
Each Wednesday we will be catching up with some local Canberra woman who are crushing it. From sports stars, musicians, models and everything in-between.
This week we caught up with former Canberra United player Grace Gill who was recently elected as a Capital Football board member.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
GG. I confess to not having a great deal of 'spare time' but that could be just because my time is already filled doing the things I love! I work full time, train for soccer at least three times a week, am studying my certs to become a PT, and every other day I'm at the gym. Of my time outside of this, I love going and sitting at a cafe with my gorgeous golden retriever Kevin, my beautiful wife Chantel, and watching the world go by.
Who is your celebrity crush?
GG. I don't think I have a celebrity crush as such, but I love seeing when people with a high profile uses their platform in the right way. So I probably have a number of little celebrity crushes anytime I see that happen.
How would someone get your attention?
GG. A fine balance of a quiet confidence and wit always catches my attention - someone who is smart and able to make me laugh.
What has been your best/worst date?
GG. Some of the best dates are spent in trackies, a hoodie and with a bunch of snacks. Good conversation and food, what's not to love!? I also love going to out try new restaurants and cafes around Canberra. We live in a city where we're spoilt with great food and incredible wine from our very own region.
What's your annoying habit?
GG. Chantel tells me it's that I can never get through a whole TV series, or just spend the whole day doing nothing. I might watch one or two episodes but then I get restless. Okay fine. I'm terrible at Netflix and chill.
Where would you like to visit next in Canberra or nearby?
GG. There's places popping up endlessly in Canberra at the moment and I always make a point of trying the latest cafe or restaurant. We've been meaning to get out to Clementine in Yass, as well as the Truffle Farm at Majura.
What sports do you enjoy watching?
GG. As a footballer (soccer player!), I enjoy watching both domestic and international leagues, especially women performing on the world stage. I'm also partial to watching the AFL on a Saturday afternoon. (Go Hawks. And Port. Go Port)
What's your favourite place to eat brunch in Canberra?
What would be your super power?
GG. I would love to be able to fly.
What’s your biggest screw up in the kitchen?
GG. I was vegetarian for a long time and more recently pescatarian, so really should't be trusted eating any kind of meat outside of that.
What’s the most useless talent you have?
GG. Are handstands useless? Probably. But I'll whip one out whenever I can because it took me a LONG time learning to get upside down.
